What is meditation?

Meditation is an ancient practice of concentrating and focusing our minds. We receive so much stimuli: the internet, the news, conversations, noises from our appliances, planes overhead, lights that might be too bright, an overwhelming taste, humid weather, etc. This can be very stressful. It might even keep us from connecting with our own selves to stay healthy. 

Meditation retrains our brains to focus inward, to learn news ways to manage external stimuli, and to decrease the reaction of our parasympathetic nervous systems. Meditation helps us control our physical/mental reactions, reframes self-talk, enhances concentration, and connects to the spiritual. It short, it helps make our daily lives easier, more productive, and open-minded.

My mind is still running at full speed when I try to meditate. Is that normal?

Many people mistake meditation with having a blank mind. However, the goal of meditation is to work towards stilling and managing your mind. When you start meditating, it is just like learning any other skill. Your practice will become easier the more you work on it. 

Do I need to meditate each day to see any benefits?

How often you meditate is up to you. It is like anything else: the more you do it, the better you become and the greater the benefits.

We send a meditation at the same time each day to help you create a meditation habit. Multiple studies find that new habits can take time to develop. At Daydrop, we make it as easy as possible for you to try to create a daily meditation habit by sending a new audio meditation to your texts at the same time each day. You are able to change the text delivery time at any point during your program.

You do not need to meditate each day or even each day at the time you receive your meditation. Things come up and life happens. However, trying to stick to a schedule will be helpful.

How can meditation help me?

Meditation can help anyone. Here are some of the biggest benefits. These also tend to be the reasons why people usually meditate in the first place. It can:

  • Reduce depression and anxiety
  • Improve overall mental health and wellness
  • Make it easier to fall and stay asleep
  • Increase focus, concentration and mindfulness
  • Allow for a more loving and forgiving approach to life, yourself and to others

I don't have a lot of flexibility in my day. How many minutes should I plan to meditate?

You do not need to meditate for hours to feel positive changes. Fewer than 10 minutes a day, especially when you are starting out, is enough time for a daily practice. As you become more adept, you can begin to meditate for longer periods. Even starting with simple breathing exercises for three minutes a day will help! Any minutes of meditation is better than zero.

Who are the Daydrop meditation guides?

The Daydrop team includes knowledgable and experienced meditation guides who use effective techniques to help you get the most from your practice. Our guides usually teach classes and run programs separate from Daydrop and are well-regarded. We choose our guides based on their meditations, personality, attitude and dedication to their students' success.

What can I expect when I sign up for Daydrop?

Daydrop will deliver one audio meditation to your text messages each day, at the time you select when you sign up. Along with these daily meditations, you may also receive breathing techniques, wellness tips, mindfulness exercises and other relevant content.

To get started, double-check to make sure your phone number is entered correctly and that you have accepted our terms. After your phone number has been confirmed, you will select the time you want your texts delivered each day and the time zone you are located in. Then, you will be sent a message providing you with the login to your account, the contact information and your first meditation. You are ready to start feeling better right away!

When will my credit/debit card be charged?

Your card will be charged at the end of your free trail period. When you have finished your first year of meditations, your account will auto-renew and your card will be charged again at that time.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, you may cancel your subscription at any time. If you cancel during your trial period, you will not be charged for the program. If you cancel after the trial period, you will have access to the meditations you have already received for the full year. To cancel, please email our support team.

Can I change my meditation delivery time?

Yes, you may change your meditation time whenever you wish. You simply need to visit daydrop.me/login from your mobile device to log into and visit your account page. On your account page, you will be able to select a new meditation delivery time. You will also find other important information about your subscription on your account page.
